The Bedford Fire Department will become first in the Country to transmit ultrasound results to hospitals live from the field
The Bedford Fire Department began training procedures to transmit live ultrasound results to area hospitals from ambulances on Monday, May 19, 2014. They are joined with DFW Airport and Hurst Firefighters to become the first in the country to implement this live ultrasound procedure at the scene of an emergency.
In this new practice, the ultrasound results will be broadcasted to the hospital emergency room in real time, to be reviewed by a doctor who will determine if the patient will need to bypass the E.R and go straight to surgery.
Under the direction of Dr Yamada, EMS Medical Director, and Dr. Raj Gandhi, Medical Director of Trauma Services at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft Worth, these 56 firefighters are training on the proper procedures and rules of this groundbreaking practice. The use of this ultrasound method will go into effect on July 1, 2014.
Worldwide Head of Sales and Marketing for Samsung Health and Medical Equipment, Mr. Jin Park; Co-Founder and CEO of Trice Imaging Åsa Nordgren; Bedford Fire Chief, James Tindell and others will be available for interviews. The training will run May 19-21 from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m at Bedford Fire Station #1, 1816 Bedford Road.
